Portsmouth goalkeeper David James accepts he is not guaranteed a place in England's World Cup squad.
James has been struggling with bone bruising around his knee which means he has to rest after each game.
He said: "The competition is good. Robert Green has done well, and the sending off in the qualifier against Ukraine was unfortunate for him.
"Ben Foster has also done well when he has come in.
"That is a good position for the manager, knowing he has three reliable keepers at least. And I am a big fan of Joe Hart, so there is a good collection to choose from."
