Championship club Portsmouth are believed to be interested in West Bromwich Albion assistant Michael Appleton.
Pompey are still on the hunt for a replacement for Steve Cotterill who left Fratton Park for Nottingham Forest last month and Appleton is reportedly at the head of the queue.
The 35-year old has established himself as one of the most promising young coaches in the country, developing under Roberto Di Matteo and Roy Hodgson at The Hawthorns, and Portsmouth may turn to the ex-Preston North End and Baggies midfielder to take the reins.
