Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou admits there's been no offers for John Utaka.
The Nigeria international has been linked with West Ham United and Sunderland since the end of the season.
Andronikou told The News: "We are just looking out for offers for Utaka at the moment. We have not had any direct dialogue with any club.
"I understand there is interest here and there, but we have not actually had any direct contact.
"We would love to have him stay, we think he would do great in the Championship, but we cannot afford him.
"A couple of clubs have asked about having him on loan for a year, which would take him off the payroll. But he's got a year left on his contract and his value would obviously deteriorate.
"As a striker, he will attract particular value - and we need to cash in."
