Portsmouth have completed the signing of Wigan midfielder Michael Brown for a nominal fee. The 32-year-old was has signed a two-year deal at Fratton Park, where he spent a loan spell with back in 1999.

"Michael's a player who has shown he can perform at this level," Pompey boss Paul Hart told portsmouthfc.co.uk.

"He's very combative and someone who I've admired for many years.

"When he was playing at Sheffield United and I was at Nottingham Forest he was a player you didn't want to come up against.

"He'll add plenty of steel to our side."
