Portsmouth chief Peter Storrie has confirmed their interest for Real Madrid striker Javier Saviola.

Saviola has struggled to make an impact at the Primera Liga champions, and Everton, Newcastle and Pompey have all been linked with an approach.

Tony Adams' side had a bid for Liverpool's Jermaine Pennant accepted on Friday, and Storrie has confirmed the club are also keen on 27-year-old Saviola.

Storrie added: "I've been working on a couple of targets today - and he has been looked at. I have had quite a lot of discussions with Real.

"I'm sure there's a deal to be done but it will be down to Tony to decide if he wants to take that forward."
