Portsmouth chief Storrie explains Sunny deal collapse

Portsmouth executive chairman Peter Storrie says a deal for Valencia midfielder Stephen Sunday is unlikely because of his lack of match fitness.

The Spanish under-20 international had been recalled from a loan spell at Osasuna to finalise a loan switch to Fratton Park.

But after putting him through his paces, the deal looks off. Storrie told The News: "We have talked to Sunny, we had a look at him yesterday and we've had a look at his fitness levels.

"It's way down because, unfortunately, he's not played many games so it's quite a way down from our existing midfield players."
