Portsmouth chief Peter Storrie is delighted with Tony Adams' decision to make Johnny Metgod his new first team coach.
Storrie said: "I think we've got an excellent coaching team in place now and I think everyone is very happy with the backroom staff. It gives us a nice balance between continuity, but there is also a fresh perspective with Johnny coming in as well.
"Tony always had his own idea on who he wanted and we knew where we were going. John Metgod was always a strong name in the frame if he could get himself out of Feyenoord.
"He's an experienced coach, he's got good character about him and he's played at the highest level. He's been coaching for the past 18-20 years and that Dutch coaching style is very important to everybody.
"We checked him out with several people and he came very highly recommended as an excellent coach. We think it's a progressive appointment.
"He's a character and that was important as well."
