Portsmouth bundled out of Uefa Cup by Wolfsburg

Portsmouth have given up a goal advantage and been beaten by German club VfL Wolfsburg in the Uefa Cup.

The loss has knocked Pompey out of the competition after an earlier loss to Braga and a draw with AC Milan.

Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko opened the scoring in just the third minute before Pompey's Jermaine Defoe and Arnold Mvuemba put the visitors ahead.

Christian Gentner equalised for Wolfsburg with a cross that goalkeeper David James couldn't collect less than ten minutes later before a calamitous blunder from James gifted the ball to Zvjezdan Misimovic who made the most of the error and put the Germans ahead with around 25 minutes remaining.

The result is a disappointing one for Pompey who have matched it for large amounts of time with European counterparts but lacked the focus to play out 90 minutes.
