Hermann Hreidarsson is hoping Portsmouth can kick-on from their 2-0 home win over Burnley. Defender Hreidarsson fired the South Coast club ahead after 65 minutes, while Aruna Dindane atoned for a poor penalty miss in the first half by firing home the second with seven minutes remaining.

The win is the first under Avram Grant and will go some way to lifting the gloom around the club following another week of strife, which saw the first-team squad again suffer a delay in receiving their wages.

"This was a massive win for us and hopefully it's a the start of something special," Hreidarsson told Sky Sports 1

"Hopefully we'll kick on from here. There's loads of points to be played for still."

Hreidarsson was the player brought down in the build up to Dindane's penalty miss but the Iceland international admitted the spot-kick should never have been awarded.

"It wasn't [a penalty]. I was waiting for the kick but it never came. It wasn't a dive, it's not what I'm about, but it wasn't a penalty, no."

Hreidarsson added that the recent concerns over pay at the club have had a galvanising effect on the players, rather than a negative one.

"All the players have stuck together, we haven't been moaning about it, so I think in a way it has got everyone together and made sure we got the points," he said.
