Portsmouth boss Redknapp slams international week

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp admits international week has hurt his preparations for this weekend's big match against Liverpool.

"It's difficult for us," said Redknapp. "We have to play Liverpool on the back of a terrible defensive display against Arsenal but because of the international break I can't even sit down with the players and show them the video and discuss the goals in detail. They don't come back until Friday morning before the match.

"By that stage we're concentrating on playing Liverpool. Am I going to start getting into them about what they did at Arsenal and what they got wrong? I can't do that when I've got to pick them up and try and persuade them they can beat Liverpool!

"It's crazy. Who knows how many are going to come back injured from international duty as well - I think we've got nine or 10 away."
