Portsmouth boss Redknapp slams

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has again blasted the 'crazy' international schedule for throwing Premier League managers' plans into disarray.

Redknapp believes he speaks for all clubs in the top flight when he says "something must be done" about the ever-increasing international breaks which are turning league programmes into stop-start and placing extra demands on top players.

Pompey have six players away - it would be eight but for injuries preventing Kanu and John Utaka reporting for Nigeria's two games - and Redknapp says: "The first I will see all of them again is next Friday just before we go to Birmingham in our next match."

He added: "I don't know what condition they will be in until they walk through the door at our training ground. It is crazy. Ask any manager and he will say the same.

"This kind of thing is now happening every few weeks when there is a break in the league programme. It is nice to have a break but not this many, surely."

Redknapp pointed out: "I don't think Birmingham will have so many away, about three I'm told - and that must give them an advantage when they play us. I expect it will be three-a-side in training as far as we are concerned next week."
