Portsmouth boss Redknapp: James will go beyond 40

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp believes there is nobody performing better than his no.1 in the league, and has thus urged Fabio Capello to reinstall David James as England's first choice goalkeeper.

Redknapp said: "Jamo was frightening again on Saturday. I don't think there's anyone that comes near him now. He's the best goalkeeper in the country and he would definitely be my England number one.

"He might be 37, but Capello would remember Dino Zoff winning the World Cup at 40. Jamo will play on until he's 40 odd.

"I've never seen anything like it in training this morning. He was just unbelievable. He destroyed all the strikers.

"We had a shooting competition between seven of them and I said the last one to score does 20 push-ups.

"In the end they all did 20 because none of them could score past him. He made saves out there like I've never seen. Turning balls round the post, getting down to the bottom corner to balls hit from 15 yards. He's just superb."
