Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp was pleased with yesterday's friendly victory over Ajax Cape Town.

Jermain Defoe and Pedro Mendes struck in the 2-1 win and Redknapp told Pompey's website: "I thought Ajax were excellent.

"They played good passing football, moved well and were strong and quick.

"They're a very, very good team, very impressive. They were bright all over and got some great crosses in.

"I'd like to come to South Africa next pre-season, like Manchester United this pre-season, and play two or three games. It would be a great place to come and play.

"I've been so impressed with Cape Town and everything about the place. I don't see any reason from what I seen why South Africa shouldn't be a great venue for the World Cup in two years."
