Portsmouth boss Redknapp: Difficult turning down Newcastle

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp says it was a difficult decision turning down Newcastle United earlier this season.

Redknapp told the Sunday Times: "It was a big challenge, but I was building a good team here and I'd worked hard convincing players to come, and I felt it would be wrong to walk away when I was building something," he said. "I'd walked away before, but I had good reason.

"I'd been badly treated, but people had treated me great this time. Circumstances, too - my wife and I are happy where we are, I'm happy with what I'm doing, plus I'm 60 years of age. It wasn't as if I'm 47 or 48."
