Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is delighted with David James' decision to sign a new deal to 2010.
"He's a freak really - I think he will go on for a long time yet. There was a lot of talk the other week about big clubs being interested but it was absolute rubbish. He was never going to go anywhere.
"He's enjoying his football and loves being here and we love having him. Now he's staying here for even longer.
"I think he wants to see out his career here and then go and play for someone like Exeter closer to home. That won't be for a long while yet though, for sure.
"Sorting out the new contract was no problem at all. We want to keep him and he wants to stay. It's just fantastic news."
