Portsmouth boss: I could've chosen Lastuvka over James

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has revealed he could have passed up the chance to sign David James.

He said: "When I took David I must be honest, I had no doubts, I fancied him on my life. Other people were trying to push me into different goalkeepers but I wasn't interested.

"Someone was on about a boy who played in Russia who went to Fulham and didn't cut it. His name was Lastuvka.

"It was only ever David James for me though. He's the best there is, no doubt about it. He's top, top class.

"He's an incredible goalkeeper. His talent is just unbelievable, to see the boy work on the training ground is amazing."
