Portsmouth boss Paul Hart insists on-loan Genoa fullback Anthony vanden Borre will get his chance this season.
Hart preferred Steve Finnan to Vanden Borre against Wolves, but said: "Against Wolves you saw the calmness and the reassurance Steve gives to the back four and his experience.
"I thought he was faultless and, of course, him coming in buys a little bit of time for Anthony to continue his learning process. What we forget about the players we bring in, from France, Belgium, whatever, the Premier League is a million miles away.
"They have been slung in at times immediately this season whereas probably in a perfect world you would ease them through and let them get a feel of it. They have been bosh, playing.
"It's an unforgiving place, very, very hard. Every game is different, but one thing is certain, it's not easy."
