Portsmouth manager Paul Hart believes goalkeeper David James is the man to take the gloves for England at the 2010 World Cup.
James will be 40 years of age when the tournament comes around but Hart suggests the former Liverpool man still has what it takes despite his growing years.
"He is in absolutely tip-top nick," Hart said.
"And if you look at his performances for us they send a huge message to the other players in the squad.
If you are asking me whether he should be there for the World Cup I say yes, absolutely," he added.
"For me there is nobody better around and I really can't see any reason he can't play on at this level for a number of years yet.
"What it is that keeps you going and still wanting to play at that age I don't know, but it's got to be about pride, desire and condition and David's got all that.
"He's also a very talented lad."
