Redknapp said: "Sylvain has been fantastic. When we took him from Manchester City we got him on a free but I knew we were getting a £6m player. I was delighted to have him. He was the only one who played against Burnley in the cup this week after playing in the win at Blackburn and I made him captain for the cup tie.
"He is also a good character to have in the dressing room. He wants to win, that is one of the reasons why I made him captain when Sol Campbell was out."
