Portsmouth boss Avram Grant insists he did not know the extent of the club's money problems before his arrival.
New Fratton Park boss Grant, who oversaw a 2-0 victory at home to Burnley on Saturday, admitted: "I did not know about the financial situation when I came here but I knew that we were bottom of the league and that things would be difficult.
"But difficult does not mean that it will be impossible. It was a new challenge for me - I have been taking challenges for 35 years and it has been good.
"It is a fact that we are bottom of the league. Our target is not to be in 19th, it is to be out of the last three and that is what I want to see in May. All my life I did my best and never gave up and I am going to do the same thing here."
