Paul Hart has backed Aruna Dindane to shrug off his Tottenham display and deliver for Portsmouth. The Ivory Coast international striker conjured up two calamitous misses as the Blues slumped to a 2-1 Fratton Park defeat.
The 28-year-old missed from close range in both halves when it would have been easier to score.
But Hart is confident the striker can bounce back to bang in the goals in the battle against the drop.
He told The News: 'I think Aruna's getting fitter and stronger, you can see that for yourself. He's getting there.
"He caused Spurs an awful lot of problems and he will only get better. "He's a great lad and will score goals, I will tell you that now.
"Next week, the week after, he will get in those positions again and probably stick away four of them.
"The lad was trying to get out of his club in the summer and missed games.
"Then we took him out to get more fitness in because it was necessary and he's getting it now.
"He's getter better and better, week by week.
"It's not only the match practice they need, it's getting used to the massive difference in whatever league they have been playing in.
"The Premier League is not replicated anywhere else in the world.
"After the Spurs game he was distraught. He said it to me coming off the pitch.
