Bookies Bodog report Michael Appleton is the punters favourite to be named as West Bromwich Albion's next manager following Roy Hodgson's departure for the England job. Current Pompey boss and former Albion midfielder Appleton spent a spell as Hodgson's number two before moving to Fratton Park.
"Appleton was in the frame for the job last year and it's no surprise to see him backed again because we know he is very highly respected at The Hawthorns from his time as a coach there."
In addition some highly-rated continental names such as China manager Jose Camacho (20/1) and Italian Claudio Ranieri (5/1) are linked with the post.
"This looks the most significant gamble of the WBA manager market so far," said Bodog's Nick Gray, whose firm sponsor the Baggies.
