Portsmouth boss Adams still bedding down into role

Portsmouth boss Tony Adams admits he's still bedding down his new staff at Fratton Park.

Adams, who brought in John Metgod as his assistant manager, has overseen three wins and five draws in his 12 matches in charge at Fratton Park.

"As you go into a new job, it is different. Harry is gone, Joe (Jordan) is gone. Things change, dynamics change," said Adams.

"You have to find your position in the club and your role in the club and your responsibilities and that takes a bit of time."

Portsmouth had conceded 13 goals in six games before Wednesday night's 3-0 UEFA Cup win over Heerenveen.

Adams addressed the problem in training this week but added: "Maybe because I have come in as manager I had taken my eye off the ball a little bit.

"We have had a transition and I have had other things like recruitment on my mind."
