Portsmouth boss Adams pleased with Pele's first training session

Portsmouth boss Tony Adams was pleased with the first training session of new signing Pele.

The Portugal U21 midfielder signed yesterday from Porto and Adams said: "Pele is not as fit as Hayden (Mullins) at the moment.

"He's a little bit younger and he doesn't know the division, so maybe he is one for later on. He has got good energy and I watched him play a couple of games for the Portuguese under-21s - he is best friends with Manuel Fernandes actually.

"He's strong - Younes Kaboul tried to kick him in training and he just rode it. The only thing I fear for him at the moment is the pace of the game. We will give him a complete physical examination and see where he's at. He has to get used to the intensity of the Premier League.

"He could be a real find, but there are a lot of question marks at the moment. These guys do take time to get used to the pace of the game over here. There is nothing like the Premier League, but we will see how he goes step by step."
