Portsmouth boss Tony Adams is keen to field Sol Campbell tonight against UEFA Cup opponents Wolfsburg.
Adams said: “Sol has only had two training sessions but has done lots of running. With him, I trust what he tells me.
“He knows his body. Sol has so much experience. We have talked about team maturity because a couple of times lately we have been done late on.
“Someone like him has a calming influence on the team. It will be a massive disappointment if we go out of the UEFA Cup because I like to win, wherever I go.
“Wolfsburg are quite phenomenal at this stadium. I think the players will have learned from our experiences and I am encouraged.”
