Portsmouth boss Adams desperate for chance to build own team

Portsmouth boss Tony Adams admits he's desperate for the chance to mould his own team.

"I am desperate to sign some players of my own but I am not sure that I can at this moment in time," said Adams.

"The owner is not going to continue to lose the amount of money that he has put into the club for the last couple of years, so I have got to work it and work it well. Recruitment is the number one thing in my eyes. You are judged by your recruitment and that is the way it should be.

"I am looking forward to the summer but I cannot worry about the summer now, I have to concentrate on the job at hand.

"The problem is in the short term people want results. The directors and the club has been totally supportive and the owner has been great.

"But around the country there is a short-termism and people want results so they panic buy.

"But for the long term good of the club I don't think it is appropriate for me to do that."
