Portsmouth are moving for Bolton Wanderers defender Danny Shittu.
The out-of-favour defender has been told he can leave the Reebok by boss Gary Megson just a year after arriving.
And the ex-Watford man is a target for Pompey boss Paul Hart as he desperately tries to bolster his squad.
Shittu, 28, cost £2million last summer but started just nine league matches last term.
And the arrival of centre-back Zat Knight from Villa has pushed him further down the pecking order for the new campaign.
Pompey are also keen to close a deal for Shittu's teammate, Gavin McCann.
