A host of Premiership clubs had scouts at Wembley on Saturday to check on Benfica defender Miguel Vitor.

Vitor endured a tough battle with England's Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll in Portugal U21's 1-0 defeat.

Portsmouth are leading a three-way chase to sign Vitor in January.

Birmingham and Ipswich have also expressed an interest as the Portuguese side look to loan out the 20-year-old to gain first team experience.
