Portsmouth to bid for Valencia striker Zigic

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is moving for Valencia centre-forward Nikola Zigic.

The People says Redknapp is a long-term admirer of the Serbian international, who has been told he can leave Valencia.

Redknapp was hoping to sign Liverpool striker Peter Crouch but the England man will join Manchester City if Rafa Benitez allows him to quit Anfield next month.

So the Fratton Park chief has turned his attentions back to Zigic, who he tried to sign from Partizan Belgrade during the World Cup 18 months ago.

Zigic, 27, instead opted for a move to Racing Santander in Spain before he was snapped up by Valencia last summer.

However, the arrival of former PSV Eindhoven boss Ronald Koeman as manager will see Zigic eased out of Valencia next month.
