Embattled Premier League have allowed teenage midfield star Gauthier Mahoto to leave the club.
The 17-year old has joined French Ligue 2 club Bastia on a two-and-a-half year deal and although it is not a big loss for Pompey now, he was touted as having a bright future by the club.
Mahoto commenced his youth career with Le Havre in France’s north-west in 2008 before moving to England’s south coast.
He was a an integral member of Portsmouth’s youth team but was deemed surplus to Avam Grant’s squad requirements and allowed to depart Fratton Park.
