Portsmouth boss Michael Appleton hopes to extend the loan of West Bromwich Albion defender Joe Mattock.

Mattock has made four Championship appearances for the club to date and Appleton appears keen to hang on to the former Leicester City youngster.

"As long as there are no ridiculous hiccups, I'd like to think we'd be able to keep Joe beyond January 2," said Appleton in The News. "If it's for the rest of the season he'd be delighted, I would and I'm sure the players would be.

"I'd be very surprised, if we did keep him, that West Brom wouldn't put in a 24-hour recall.

"That puts us at risk as well, so I have to weigh all those options up."
