Everton were forced to admit defeat late on transfer deadline day for Porto midfielder Fernando.
The Daily Mail says Everton failed in their bid to sign Porto midfielder Fernando in a £15m deal, despite attending the Brazilian's work permit hearing in London earlier in the day.
The move collapsed after he expressed a wish to join a Champions League club.
