FC Porto have confirmed that they will not be selling star full-back Alvaro Pereira.
The Uruguayan was a transfer target for Chelsea in the summer and it was believed the Blues could return with a winter offer but Porto president Jorge Pinto da Costa has made it clear the player is not for sale.
"I think the chance to do a deal for this player has passed, and that is good news for us.
"Now is the time that rumours start spreading in the papers, but I am used to that.""I have offered a guarantee to the coach that no important players will leave the team in January, and that includes Alvaro Pereira," da Costa told O Jogo.
