Porto fans stage Chelsea protest outside Villas-Boas home

Porto fans pleaded with Andre Villas-Boas last night to reject a move to Chelsea.

The Telegraph says Porto have made it clear that they will not negotiate the release of their manager until after the £13.4 million has been paid. Chelsea would like to talk first and, although an agreement remains likely, there was a minor stand-off on Monday night.

A group of Porto fans also staged protests in front of Villas-Boas's home in a final attempt to persuade him to stay but, according to sources in Portugal, he is keen to join Chelsea.

The Porto players are understood to have been informed.

"We've lost our coach but we remain strong - we are Porto," said Alvaro Pereira, the club's left-back.
