Portland Timbers sign Adin Brown from Aalesunds

United Soccer League club Portland Timbers have signed veteran goalkeeper Adin Brown from Norwegian club Aalesunds FK.

The 31-year old is a former Colorado Rapids and New England Revolution custodian and has also had a stint with Tampa Bay Mutiny.

Timbers head coach and general manager Gavin Wilkinson said the signing of Brown was a major coup for the club.

"Adin is a tremendous goalkeeper, and while he is coming off surgery, the opportunity to sign him was too good to pass up," Wilkinson said.

"His ability and mentality have never been questioned, and when he is healthy he is one of the best goalkeepers in North America. We both feel this is an opportunity for him to focus on getting fit and healthy and reach those heights again."

Brown was a key member in the Revs team that went down in the 2002 MLS Cup and was previously in the USA U23 squad.
