Portland Timbers owner Merritt Paulson said he is not perturbed by negative comments directed at his club.
Boston Globe writer Bob Ryan suggested that the Timbers' decision to have the fans sing the national anthem prior to their home opener last weekend was a 'civic joke' but Paulson, along with many others, disagrees.
Ryan made the comment on ESPN and Paulson heard about it, he gave his view.
"Sportswriters are paid to create opinions, and they're entitled to their opinions. I would say his (opinion) would be in the extreme minority on this," Paulson said.
"I find it to be a head-scratcher that anybody wouldn't think that was one of the coolest national anthems they had ever seen."
