MLS expansion franchise Portland Timbers have denied claims that they are on the trail of Adelaide United midfielder Marcos Flores.
The Argentine playmaker, who was recently named as the 2010/11 Johnny Warren Medalist for the best player in the A-League, is being linked with a move to become the Timbers' Designated Player.
But a report in The Oregonian suggests that Timbers officials have made it clear that they will not pursue Flores as the DP although they still may try to sign him before the start of the 2011 MLS season.
Flores enjoyed a stellar season with the Reds, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists from midfield.
