Portland Timbers new boy Boyd admits to receiving other offers

Portland Timbers signing Kris Boyd says he had other offers to choose from before deciding to sign with the MLS club.

The 28-year old Scottish striker, who has previously played for Kilmarnock, Rangers, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest and Eskisehirspor, has joined the Timbers on a deal believed to be worth around $2.7million.

Boyd, who was also being tracked by Houston Dynamo, revealed he had other offers but decided to commit to Portland after a good sell by head coach John Spencer.

"I've had a lot to think about in the last few weeks but this is too good an opportunity to turn down," he said.

"The MLS is a fantastic league with some of the best players in the world.

"I've had various offers to consider but feel I've made the right decision.

"I had good talks with John who did a brilliant job selling the club to me. All being well I'll get everything sorted in the next few days."
