The 2011 SuperDraft number 2 pick Darlington Nagbe opened his MLS goalscoring account with an absolutely stunning effort on Saturday night.
The 20-year old Portland Timbers young gun controlled the ball from a Sporting Kansas City clearance with his right foot, before taking another touch whilst in the air and then hitting a looping volley into the top left corner from outside the penalty area.
Timbers coach John Spencer described it as one of the best goals you will ever see.
"You'll probably pay to watch a lot more games in your life (and) you'll probably not see a better goal," he said.
And Nagbe said he was lucky even to be able to produce an attempt on goal let alone score one of the goals of the season.
"The ball came to me and I just wanted to make sure I didn't lose it," Nagbe said. "I got lucky enough to get a shot off.
"I knew we were down 2-0 and I was just thinking about the moment.
"Afterwards, it felt great, because I knew we needed something to lift us up going into halftime. I'm glad I got the goal and everyone's tempo (increased).
"I was just excited about it."
