Portland Timbers forward Johnson takes out Week 6 MLS prize

Portland Timbers attacker Ryan Johnson has been named the MLS Player of the Week for Week 6 of the 2013 season.

The 28-year old Jamaican international scored a double for the Timbers as they beat Houston Dynamo 2-0 at JELD-WEN Field to record their first win of the campaign.

Johnson opened the scoring with a back post volley from Diego Chara's wonderful rightwing cross in the 55th minute before doubling the Timbers' lead in the 73rd minute after some brilliant work from Darlington Nagbe who fed the ex-San Jose Earthquakes ace who strode into the area and fired beyond Dynamo keeper Tally Hall.

Johnson becomes the second Timbers player to win the Player of the Week award this season, following Will Johnson who netted a double in the 2-2 draw with Colorado Rapids last week.
