Portland Timbers head coach John Spencer is clearly unhappy with the recent level of officiating in MLS matches.
The former Chelsea striker has spoken out about the standard of refereeing, saying that his side has suffered because of poor decisions, especially in the 1-0 loss to Colorado Rapids on Saturday night.
"You can't keep brushing crap under the carpet," Spencer said after Timbers training on Monday. "(You can't keep) sweeping it under the carpet and hoping it's going to go away.
"My 67-year-old mother-in-law can see it from the club deck. There's an official standing right there and you're asking me why I'm having a go at the fourth official?
"That's why I'm angry. I saw a team (Portland), probably put in the best performance since the (first half of the) Chicago game. I thought we deserved to win the game," Spencer added.
"But when guys are making decisions that change careers and changes the course of games, then (they) must explain (their) actions."
