Portland Timbers coach Porter: Valeri is exactly what we wanted

Caleb Porter was thrilled with the performance of Diego Valeri in Portland Timbers' 2-1 home victory over FC Dallas on the weekend.

The 27-year old Argentine playmaker provided assists on both goals for the Timbers and his string-pulling exploits were not lost on head coach Porter who has been delighted with the former Atletico Lanus star.

"He's exactly what we thought he'd be and exactly what we wanted him to be," Porter said.

"He's a playmaker. He's a final passer. He's a guy that sets people up. That's what you want out of your No. 10.

"He's the creator and the guy that should be setting guys up. He's capable of scoring goals, but he'll have more assists than goals."

Porter added: "He's been tremendous here. And we're real happy to have him here for quite a few more years."
