Providence Health & Services have agreed a wide-ranging sponsorship deal with newly-established women's football team Portland Thorns FC, reports SportsPro. The multi-year deal will see Providence become the Thorns' official presenting partner and the team's official healthcare provider. In addition, the sponsorship will see Providence become the team's front-of-shirt sponsor when the inaugural National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) season kicks off on 13th April.

The agreement will see the Thorns and Providence promote health and fitness programmes targeted at women and children, including youth heart screenings, paediatric weight management programmes and Providence health and fitness days at the team's Jeld-Wen Field home stadium.

The Oregon-based firm also sponsors Major League Soccer's (MLS) Portland Timbers and the Providence Sports Care Center in the southeast corner of Jeld-Wen Field.
