Javier Portillo is excited by the potential of his new Osasuna strike-partnership with Walter Pandiani.

"I think that we make a good pair and that we can cause a lot of damage," said the former Real Madrid striker, who joined Osasuna from relegated Gimnastic Tarragona at the end of last season.

"We have adapted well to each other, we watch and we know what we have to do."

Portillo was Osasuna's leading scorer in pre-season, and the 25-year-old admits it is always nice to hit the back of the net no matter what level you are playing at.

"It is more important to score in competition, but scoring goals is always important, even in training," he said.

"It gives you confidence and the truth is that I am happy with the pre-season."
