Port Vale staying grounded as they head League Two

Boss Micky Adams has urged Port Vale not to get carried away after their 2-0 victory over Accrington. Marc Richards fired Vale into a 31st-minute lead in Saturday's clash at Vale Park, before Louis Dodds wrapped up the victory to leave his side sitting pretty at the top of League Two.

"I don't want to put a dampener on it, but we've only played eight games and there are 38 to go, along with eight more months of very hard work," said Adams.

"We've got to stay level-headed and not get carried away. There are no medals given out at this stage of the season and we are now there to be shot at.

"But the players deserve to be where they are and I'm sure we will all do our utmost to stay there. The players have worked tremendously hard since the first day I arrived.

"It's also very nice for the fans to be top of the league and my message to them would be to go and enjoy it."
