Popularity of Man Utd, Liverpool games will attract others - FFA chief Gallop

Football Federation Australia chief executive David Gallop is confident that the fast-selling matches involving Manchester United and Liverpool will help attract other world-class clubs to the country.

Recently-crowned Premier League champions United and five-time European winners Liverpool travel to Australia in July for preseason friendlies with the A-League All-Stars in Sydney on July 20 (Man U) and Melbourne Victory on July 24 (Liverpool).

Both matches have, or are set to sell out, and Gallop feels that is a great reflection on the popularity of the world game down under, paving the way for further visits of this nature.

"These games are opportunities for people to vote with their feet about their interest and we have got two sell-outs so that's got to say something about the demand," he said.

"Obviously we expect that the two teams will have great experiences, not only in terms of football, but it's a pretty nice country to visit and we'll be going out of our way to make sure they enjoy the few days here, not just the 90 minutes on the pitch.

"If we get all that right then other clubs will be looking to come down and be part of the same thing."
