Popovic set to leave Palace for manager's berth with West Sydney

Crystal Palace first-team coach Tony Popovic is poised to leave his role and become a manager in his native Australia. Popovic, a popular defender with the Championship outfit between 2001 and 2006, returned to Selhurst Park to work alongside manager Dougie Freedman last year.

But the 38-year-old is now poised to take his first managerial role with new A-League club West Sydney.

Palace chairman Steve Parish told the South London Press: "I've had a conversation with him and they have offered him a five-year deal to go.

"We're trying to sort out the details."
