Sevilla midfielder Gary Medel is returning to Spain after being detained by airport security in Santiago, Chile.

Local cops rejected an assault complaint by journalist Natalia Marambio made against Medel yesterday.

It was claimed Medel shoved the reporter after being asked about his behaviour off the pitch, but police dismissed Marambio's complaint.

"Medel remains free after an investigator ascertained that journalist Natalia Marambio, of a showbiz television programme, did not suffer any form of injury, as she had claimed," a Chilean police spokesperson told Spanish news agency EFE.
