Atalanta defender Andrea Masiello has been arrested by local police.

Masiella was taken as part of the probe into an alleged match fixing betting scandal.

Police have swooped for the Serie A player, and two of his friends, as the investigation into betting irregularities continues.

The authorities in the Bari area have placed a number of the Galletti's games from last season's Serie A under the spotlight.

Masiello, who joined Atalanta in the summer from the Stadio Nicola outfit, is one of nine players from last term's Bari squad who are helping police with their enquiries.
