Pohang Steelers got the job done in their Asian Champions League semi-final first leg overnight.
The K-League club played host to Qatari club Umm Salal at the Pohang Steelyard and were good enough to come away with a vital 2-0 victory.
Defender Hwang Jae-won put the home side in front in the 45th minute before Kim Jae-sung added a second nine minutes from time.
The two-goal buffer will make it hard for Umm Salal to run down when they meet in the return leg on Thursday October 29.
In the other semi-final, Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad made their intentions clear with a 6-2 drubbing of Japan's Nagoya Grampus.
